My Message To My Sons

Oh my sons, do not associate partners with God.

Oh my sons, perform Prayers, at dawn, at noon, at late afternoon, at dusk, at night, observing them on time with all of their requirements humbly and conscientiously.

Give thanks to God and to your parents and to your grandparents.

And enjoin the good and forbid evil, gently and without harshness.

Bear with patience whatever befalls you.

And do not turn away from people through pride.  Smile, for a smile is a charity in your favour.  Nor walk haughtily on earth.  And walk at a moderate pace, neither quick nor slow.  And lower your voice when there is no need for raising the voice.

My sons, when you ask, ask God, and when you seek help, seek the help of God.  And know that victory comes with endurance and the relief comes through distress.  And along with difficulty comes ease.

  3. They will understand... somehow they will react differently, that should not be a cause for concern. We are demarcating boundaries to ease their journey, we help them see what lies ahead. Soon they will steer their own course, as we mellow down and take the back seat.

  9. What a beautiful prayer, Aishah! One that will be applicable even to your sons' own kids, and more generations to come. It is really something to teach our loved ones about the beauty and power of gratitude! Thanks for reminding me about it via this post. :)
